The last words from Jesus gave us our “marching orders.” We are to take the gospel to all the corners of the world. He said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

That assignment is a tough one. And it starts with awareness. We can’t pray about, give to, and care about people that we don’t know. That is why it is so important to educate ourselves with what the Lord is doing around the globe.

One of my emails this morning speaks to that situation. It is from Global Outreach International. They were reporting on recent activities of their missionaries.

“In Chad, Thompson Chain-Reference Bibles are moving one step closer to pastors and church leaders across Chad. This important resource will help equip leaders to faithfully teach God’s Word in communities where biblical training is limited.

 In Peru, in the Andes Mountains, missionaries continue making the difficult journey to remote villages where weekly Bible studies are bringing people together to learn God’s Word.

In Romania, God answered months of prayer in Râșnov as a youth outreach welcomed twelve first-time visitors to the church. Just days later, three teenage boys gave their lives to Christ! This is a powerful reminder that God is changing lives one relationship at a time.

 And in Spain, what looked like a closed door became an open one. After being denied entry into a South Asian country, a Global Outreach missionary has partnered with local leaders to launch three new Bible training centers that will equip approximately 40 pastors.”

As I read those reports, I was drawn into their ministries. I was experiencing their efforts and rejoicing over what the Lord is doing in those places. I have some new efforts to pray for. I am somehow connected to their work and get to participate in a small way.

I have never been to Chad or Romania or Spain, but I got transported to those spots and can share in those ministries. What a privilege!

So, this week I am recommending that we all reach out to one or more mission agency and ask for their newsletters. Let’s start reading about the men and women who serve the Lord around the world. Let’s find out about their unique ministries and prayer fully consider getting involved.

Bible training in Chad… imagine being there! What would it be like hiking through the Andes to carry the gospel to a small village? Youth services are always loud. Picture yourself in Romania watching kids worship the Lord. And thinking about those Bible training centers in Spain might cause us to give towards their needs.

The Great Commission applies to all of us. Get involved!
